Retail industry professionals come out in force to witness major accolades giving at the third annual EuropaProperty CEE Retail Real Estate Awards Gala

The third annual EuropaProperty CEE Retail Real Estate Awards, which highlighted the best commercial retail real estate companies, retailers, projects and people in the CEE region for 2010, continued to grow and build on previous successes by welcoming over 450 top real estate professionals to this year’s event.

The awards, held on February 10th at the five-star Intercontinental Hotel Warsaw in Poland, were awarded by an international academy of jurors, comprised of senior industry professionals, in five different categories consisting of retailer, shopping centre manager, company, project and overall awards.

This year’s ceremony saw a lot of companies walk off with more than one award and past winners recognised again for their continued market success.

Keen Property Partners Retail, for example, scooped two awards for Galeria Victoria, their acclaimed shopping centre project in Walbrzych, Poland. The centre was awarded Shopping Centre of the Year in the medium category and was also voted Overall Retail Project of the Year.

Richard Keen, Managing Director of Keen Property Partners, and Paul Kusmierz, Principal of Master Management, received the prizes on behalf of Keen Property Partners Retail, the developer of Galeria Victoria.

“Receiving these awards for Galeria Victoria is a real success and gives great satisfaction to all of our team, who were extremely committed to the development of this unique and beautiful shopping centre,” said Richard Keen. Paul Kusmierz, added, “It was a big project for us. We’re small private guys, who don’t have half the experience of the people in this room. Thank you very much, we couldn’t be happier.”

Atrium European Real Estate, who has been pretty active in the region with some high profile deals, for example the €171 million purchase of Promenada Shopping Centre in Warsaw, received the Investor of the Year. They also picked up the Overall Company of the Year award.

To coincide with the region’s ever changing market, and reflect its evolving nature, new awards and categories were added including: Big Box Retailer of the Year and Multi-Media Retailer of the Year, which were both won by the Metro Group.

Also added this year, to highlight the importance of good asset management, was the Shopping Centre Manager of the Year award. Metro Group Asset Management’s Krzysztof Kucharski won this accolade.

Changes to the project categories also reflected the changing dynamics of the region’s retail development markets with the addition of an Extended/Refurbished Project of the Year award.
